How can I revitalize an old wood bench?

I just bought a wooden glider-bench at a garage sale. It seems in fair shape, no rot and minimal rust, but the wood is VERY dry. It has some remnants of an old stain finish still in it; I'm certain it isn't paint.
After sanding it down
If you don't want to varnish or paint, try a wood stain. It will sort of bring the wood "back to life", and you will be able to see the wood through it. Stains come in great colors, my mother used this on her kitchen cabinets after sanding
